What types of radiation hazards are potentially present on offshore locations?

Two primary types of radiation hazards are potentially present on offshore facilities: man-made sources of radiation and naturally-occurring radiation.Man-made sources can include:

  •   Radioactive sources used in x-ray and non-destructive testing

  •   Radioactive sources used for well logging operations

  •   Other sources like lasers, microwaves and electromagnetic equipment
