What controls are available to mitigate risk?

  •  Heat or cool equipment as needed prior to starting work tasks or maintenance

  •  Install warning signs and barriers to prevent personnel from entering an area, or insulation to prevent personnel from inadvertently touching hot or cold equipment

  •  Wear the right PPE; thermal gloves, arc flash clothing, goggles/face shields

  •  Develop cold temperature and brittle failure controls if necessary

  •  During summer stay hydrated and take breaks

  •  During winter, dress appropriately for the temperature, take breaks to get warm
